President’s Report

            President Robert King reported that he answered questions from the general membership at the unofficial Annual Meeting of the Members.  The questions and answers given were as follows:

1.    What are MACA’s priorities:  Primarily Chess Horizons and Tournaments

2.    Would a survey of the membership be effective:  The conclusion by the President was that it would not be worth the effort.

3.    Will anything be done about updating the By-Laws:  Mark Kaprielian would once again attempt to get reforms passed.

Treasurer’s Report

            Financial summaries were distributed by the Treasurer and reviewed by the Board.

To Repay $2000 from the General fund to Life Membership Fund.

            It was reported that we have located our certificate of exemption.

            Kaprielian initiated a discussion about posting the Treasurer’s reports to the web.  It was decided to hold this topic over to the next meeting.

Commendation for Robert Messenger

            Peter Lee offered up a commendation for Robert Messenger for his outstanding work during the previous term in putting the MACA Financial records in order.  The Board gave applause to the commendation.
