Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • Sections: 14 & Under, 11 & Under, 8 & Under
  • All players play all 4 rounds, and playing up is welcome.
  • Rules for Spiegel Cup: http://masschess.org/scholastics/Spiegel-Cup-Rules.aspx#qualification
  • Section eligibility based on age as of December 31, 2017.
  • So, for example, if a player's 12th birthday is in November and he plays in a Spiegel Cup Series event in October, he is NOT eligible to play in the 11 & Under section and must play in the 14 & Under section.
  • Conversely, if the player's 12th birthday is in January then he IS eligible to play in the 11 & Under section of a Spiegel Cup Series event held in February even though he'll be 12 years old at the time of the tournament. What matters is his age on Decemb
