Rounds Time: Four rounds. Round 1 is at 9:30 a.m., others ASAP
Byes: No half point byes allowed
Prize Info: Trophies to top 3 in each individual section. Trophies to members of the top two teams in each rating category. Medals awarded to those scoring at least 3 points, who do not win a trophy in individual section. Medals awarded to team which tied for the second place but not win trophies.

Entry Fee: Advanced entries only: $35 if mailed by 11/10/24 or online by end of 11/15/24. $10 discount per 1st time player in under 300 section (first USCF-rated tournament). NO AT THE DOOR ENTRIES. Register in advance!

Membership Requirement: Current US Chess membership required for all players. MACA membership required for Massachusetts residents.

Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • Team Average Rating Categories: under 400, under 800, under 1200, under 1600. Average team rating is count based on the 4 top rated players in a team.
  • Send team name and a list of players to info@masschess.org - your registration will not be completed if you don't send this.
  • Each team is built of at least 4 players from ANY individual section. Team is allowed to have at most 7 players. Teams do not have to be school-based.
  • Top 4 results are count towards team score. These top 4 by score players are awarded trophies when team wins a trophy. Other team members get medals.
  • Lineup is determined by November 2024 ratings. The TD may assign ratings to unrated players.
  • Bring your own chess set, board, and chess clock (if you have one). Items not provided at tournament.
  • All food consumed in the hotel must be purchased from the hotel.

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
