- Send team name and a list of players to info@masschess.org - your registration will not be completed if you don't send this.
- New format is introduced! Unlike in the previous years when teams were based by grade, now teams are based by rating (of the top 4 players by rating), so even low rated team can win a trophy!
- Scholastic players compete in teams of 4. Teams do not have to be school-based.
- Teams may have one or two alternates. Alternates don't affect the team's average rating. Only the top four players on a winning team win trophies. Alternates win medals.
- Lineup is determined by February 2025 ratings. The TD may assign ratings to unrated players.
- Coaches are asked to provide ages and/or grades for their unrated players, and encouraged to suggest estimated ratings for them. If no other information is available, unrated players will be assigned ratings according to USCF rule 31C1.
- A team on which every player is unrated is unrated, can play in any section, and is eligible for all prizes in its section.
- A team may have only three players, but will forfeit the bottom board in every match.
- If you're missing a player or two in your team, or if you want to play but don't have a team, write to Dima Barash dimabarash@gmail.com (put in subject [Winter Team] in addition to your request), we'll add single players to incomplete teams.
- Medals to players on teams which tie for trophies but don't win them, and to players scoring three points or more and don't win a trophy.
- MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
- Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
- MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
- If online registration is enabled on this event, you can Join/Renew your USCF and MACA membership at the online registration page. If online registration is not available, you can join MACA (The Massachusetts Chess Association) at our Online Membership Form and USCF (United States Chess Federation) at USCF Membership Page.
