Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • Byes must be called in before 7:00 PM or you will be forfeited, withdrawn and not allowed to play again until the forfeit fine is paid.
  • Forfeit penalty doubles each time until record is clear for one year.
  • Last round Bye must be committed to before the start of round 2 and is irrevocable after the start of the 2nd round.
  • May enter at any round except last round.
  • No Re-entries allowed.
  • Forfeit is 60 minutes after the round starts.
  • Players who are 30 minutes late after the round starts may be repaired
  • We may reduce clock times by up to 30 minutes to compensate for a late start of the round and Players may opt-out of playing if this occurs.
  • Sections with < 10 players may be merged

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
