Byes: Byes in rounds 1-5 in Championship section, 1-6 in others, limit 2, rounds 4-6 must commit before round 2.

Entry Fee: $60 for 3-day, $59 for 2-day mailed by 10/4 or online by 10/7, $75 at site.$25 discount to players in U1500 section rated under 1000 or unrated. GMs and IMs free.

Tournament Sections: Championship $3000-1000-500, top U2300 $500
Under 2100 $450-250, top U1950 $250
Under 1800 $400-200, top U1650 $200
Under 1500 $300-150, top U1350 $150, top U1200 $150
Tournament Rules and Other Information
  • The Championship section is open to players rated 1800 and above.
  • There is no 2-day schedule in the Championship section.
  • The Championship section is FIDE rated, and FIDE rules are used.
  • State Champion title to the top-scoring Mass. resident or student in each section.
  • Unrated prize limits: $200 in U2100, $150 in U1800, $100 in U1500, can't win title.
  • Bring chess set and clock.
  • Masks are required.

  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
