  • WWII Veteran LOU GIARRUSSO (born May 11,1923) a local RI chess player will be 101 YEARS OLD, regularly plays weekly at multiple chess clubs & tournaments; Lou will be honored & actually playing his tournament on his 101st Birthday.
  • LET'S GET 101+ PLAYERS TO SUPPORT HIM for HIS 101st BIRTHDAY at this Historical celebration!
  • $1800 + $300 Trophies = Biggest Prize Fund awarded at R.I. Rated event. $ Prizes b/50 paid entries from top 2 sections. 90%+ of EF paid out
  • Open to Out-of-State Players. Plenty of parking. Beautiful College Campus. Extra skittles rooms, Lounge. Cafeteria. Voted as "Best chess venue site in New England,"
  • Food/drinks available on site. Lunch break around 12:00-1:00 PM. Cafeteria food stations w/ Lunch Specials, Salad, Burgers, Pasta, Deli Sandwiches, Soup, Pizza
  • Advance EF by Friday 5/10/2024. EF $10 more on-site the day of the event. Late Entries may be paired or receive 1/2 pt Bye
  • GM's, IM's, WGM's, WIM's FREE, Email Organizer. EF may be deducted from prizes.

  • U1000/U600 Round Times 11:00, 12:00, 2:00, 3:10 pm. Scholastic sections finish around 4:00. OPEN/U1600 Round Times: 10:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:05 pm, 5:15 pm. Higher sections finish after 7:00 PM. Chess sets provided. Bring a clock if you have one.
  • Chief TD: F. DelBonis, USCF Associate National TD, organized & volunteered to direct tournament for FREE w/ TD Assistants.

  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
