Byes: If a player misses two consecutive weeks they will be moved down one rank on the ladder.
Prize Info: Playoff matches for annual prizes over the summer and during January. (The rules are subject to change as we introduce this new format.)

Entry Fee: $5, $10 for non-members (entry fee per each Thursday night for ladder games)
Registration - Onsite: Onsite registration is 6:45pm-7:10pm; However entering in advance online via the event webpage link is recommended
Membership Requirement: A current USCF membership is required for rated ladder games (but not for casual games). https://new.uschess.org/join-us-chess

  • Event located at 35 Kingston St, Boston, MA, near Downtown Crossing, first floor.

  • Any player holding the title of either Grandmaster or International Master may play in any BCF tournament with no entry fee, and no entry fee will be withheld from any prize he or she wins
  • Any club member rated 2200+ may play in the Thursday Night Ladder with no entry fee and no prize deductions.
  • Join us for ladder games on Thursday nights! Starting in 2025, the BCC will run a ladder on Thursday nights for club members. Anyone may play, but in order to be ranked on the ladder and be eligible for prizes, you must be a club member.

  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
