Dual Rated Events

At the August 2000 USCF Delegates meeting (the month could be incorrectly stated here) it was decided to put into action a change to the Quick rating system.  Here is the text from the USCF Ratings News Page, April 2002.

Dual Rating Events with Time Controls of G/30 to G/60

The USCF will improve the accuracy of quick ratings by increasing the number of games that are rated under the quick rating system. Any tournament with a time control between G/30 and G/60 inclusive that is submitted on disk with the time control indicated on the rating report will be rated under both the regular rating system and the quick rating system. A tournament director or organizer who submits a rating report on paper only (no disk) may have the tournament dual rated by submitting a double rating fee. Tournaments with time controls of G/10 to G/29 will continue to be rated using only the quick rating system. Tournaments with time controls of G/61 or slower will continue to be rated using only the regular rating system. If no time control is indicated on the rating report, the tournament will be rated using only the rating system indicated on the rating report.

For several months, the USCF ratings department was unaware of the ruling so events in that period did not get dual rated.  Currently, if the name of the event doesn't incorporate the time control and the TD submitting the Rating Report does not explicitly indicate the time control, there is a good chance that the Ratings department will NOT Dual rate it.  They have to know that it falls into the time control range that should be dual rated.  .
Since we now occasionally receive two USCF cross tables to post to the web, an additional column now appears with a link shown as    DR  which stands for Dual Rated.  When this is present it means that the results from the normally rated event, as shown with the link USCF was also applied to the Quick rating.   The DR link shows the result of the "Quick" ratings change.
Another thing to remember is that when you play your first Quick event, they start your quick event using the last 10 regular rated games you played plus your just played Quick games.  This means your provisional game count, the /xx that appears after the Quick rating, will be at 10 plus the number of games you just played as your first Quick games.    Provisional Quick games, just like Regular games remain provisional until the event you play your 25th game in.
