Byes:  NO 1/2 byes in open sections.
Prize Info:  Trophies for top 3 in each division; winner (MA student) in each OPEN division is invited to state finals. Ties for 1st place broken by playoff games. Medals awarded to those scoring at least 3 points who do not win a trophy.

Tournament Rule and Other Information
  • On-site registration cut-off at 9:00 AM sharp. Late entrants will be paired in round 2 but NO 1/2 byes in open sections.
  • Players playing in any qualification event, or in the state championships, are assumed to be familiar with the intent of 2009 State Championship rules here.
  • Proof of current USCF, MACA membership required for on-site entries.
  • Section eligibility based on age as of Dec 31, 2009.
  • No Smoking. No Computers. Site is Wheelchair-accessible.
  • Bring your own chess set, board, and chess clock (if you have one). Items not proviced at tournament. Chess equipment on sale.
