The meeting was called to order by President George
Mirijanian at 8:19 p.m. In attendance, in addition to the president, were
Treasurer Bob Messenger, Ken Ballou, Ken Belt, Maryanne Reilly and Vice
President Steve Frymer, the last of whom arrived to bring about a quorum for a
meeting originally scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
The president noted that no minutes were available from the April and June
board meetings or from the annual membership meeting held in May.
The treasurer had no report because of problems with his laptop.
TOURNAMENTS
The Mass. Game/60 will be held Oct. 23 at the Lowell Boys and Girls
Club.
Deadline for TLAs in two issues of Chess Life for the Pillsbury Memorial
[tentative dates Dec. 10-11] is Aug. 10. No site yet.
Deadline for the book concession for the Sept. 3-5 New England Open in
Boxborough is Aug. 15.
SCHOLASTICS
Maryanne Reilly reported that she was talking to Bank of America about their
hosting one or two scholastic tournaments during the coming school year.
BYLAWS
Motion (by Mirijanian): To amend section 4.12 of the MACA bylaws to
change the quorum for meetings of the Executive Board from six to five. Passed
5-0 with one abstention (Frymer).
