Tournament Sections: OPEN SECTION = $600-$400-$150, 30 Grand Prix pts. Special Trophies 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place
* Class Prize Top U1800 - $100 plus Trophy (Open Section)
U1600 SECTION = $400-$200-$100, Special Trophies 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place
* Class Prize Top U1400 - $50 plus Trophy (U1600 Section)
U1200 SECTION = Trophies 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place. Medals
U800 SECTION = Trophies 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place. Medals

  • Open to Out-of-State Players. Plenty of parking. Beautiful College Campus. Extra skittles rooms, Lounge. Cafeteria. Voted as "Best chess venue site in New England,"
  • Food/drinks available on site. Lunch break. Cafeteria food stations w/ Lunch Specials, Salad, Burgers, Pasta, Deli Sandwiches, Soup, Pizza
  • GM's, IM's, WGM's, WIM's FREE, Email Organizer. EF may be deducted from prizes.
  • OPEN/U1600: Rd 1 @ 9:30 am; Lunch 11:40 am; Rd 2 @12:20 pm; Rd 3 @ 2:30 pm; Rd 4 @ 4:45 pm; Awards: 7:00 pm
  • U1200/U800: Rd 1 @10:00 am; Rd 2 @11:15 pm; Lunch 12:30 pm; Rd 3 @1:15 pm; Rd 4 @ 2:30 pm; Awards: 3:45 pm
  • Open to Out-of-State Players eligible for 1st, 2nd 3rd place trophies, the Special (separate) 1st Place State Championship Trophy RI Champion, RI Women’s Champion, and the RI Amateur Champion must be RI resident
  • Players can only play up one section from most recent USCF rating. Ratings less than 1200 cannot enter the Open Championship section, and ratings less than 800 cannot enter the Amateur U1600 section.
  • Players can take one 1/2 bye in advance, but must be requested before round 1, After Rd 1 player receives 0 Point bye
  • Chess sets & most clocks provided. Please bring a clock if you have one.
  • Chief TD: F. DelBonis, USCF Associate National TD, with Qualified TD Assistants.

  • MACA provides tournament listing for all as a service to the chess community. For question, comments, or dispute regarding events that are not organized by MACA, please contact the tournament organizer directly.
  • Remember that each player is responsible for bringing and setting up their clock. Please refer to the Metrowest Chess Club Digital Clock Guide for instructions on how to set digital clocks.
  • MACA does not recommend but allows US Chess approved electronic scorekeeping devices. Please note that some national tournaments held by US Chess ban electronic scorekeeping, so be sure to know how to keep score without aid of electronics.
