D. Library 6 (+1); D. Subscriber 25 (+5); Exchange 16 (=); Library 2 (+1); Prison 280 (+6); Subscriber 34 (+23).  Total change in Membership and Subscribers: +144.
                        (b) There was discussion of how Members whose Memberships had been extended should be notified, and when: should this be included in the CH issue when it comes out, or posted on the website, or sent by e-mail?  It may need to be a combination of these.

Tournament: (a) R. Messenger reported: (i) the NE Open will be held on Labor Day weekend in Leominster; (ii) the Greater Boston Open will be held on 10/6/13 in Marlboro; (iii) the Pillsbury Memorial will be held on 12/15/13 in Marlboro; (iv) the MA G/60 Championship will be held on 4/27/14 in Marlboro; (v) the MA Open will be held on Memorial Day weekend in Marlboro.

                        (b) N. Sterling reported: (i) the NESA June G/30 was held on 6/29/13 and had fourteen players, eleven Rated, and three Unrated; (ii) the NESA July G/30 was held on 7/20/13 and had ten kids, five Rated and five Unrated.  Despite complications with NESA’s complex pre-registration process (which uncomfortably requires customers to leave a credit card number on file), both tournaments went very smoothly.

Chess Horizons: R. Kinne reported: (i) The CH articles are ready for publication, and Max Sewell can start the layout.  Because there were a limited number of up-to-date articles, there was a concern that there would not be sufficient pages for both a Summer and a Fall issue. (ii) The decision was made to publish the 2012 MA Open Games in the Summer, and the 2013 MA Open Games in the Fall.  (iii) Some older articles by Alexander Ivanov and David Vigorito will likely be published in the Fall.  In general, there will be a need to track down all articles submitted by paid writers to be sure they will be properly published.

Frymer reported: (i) all upcoming events are scheduled except for the Winter Team Challenge, which may be held on Saturday 1/18/14 or Sunday 1/19/14, and for which the site is still uncertain; and the Spiegel Cup in Marlboro on 2/9/14, which may be held at one of two different hotels (more likely the Best Western); (ii) the schedule of Scholastic events is as follows:

Dann to ask the Tournament Committee to request from Esther Epstein (wife of Alexander Ivanov, the current possessor of the MA Open Trophy) to submit to MACA photographs of the trophy so that they may be analyzed for evidence of damage, went by without a second.  This motion was in response to a mishap that had happened to the trophy, marring it, at some unspecified prior point. * *
