1. Hungary. The incomparable Judit Polgar claimed the more than thirtyyear-old record just after turning 15 in 1991, only to be bested by countryman Peter Leko three years later.
2. Damiano’s Defence. In one of the earliest chess books ever written, Pedro Damiano (1480 - 1544), a Portugese pharmacist, denounced 2… f6 as the worst logical move after 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3. His explanation was so thorough, in fact, that the move ended up named after him!
