Winner of five international tournaments including the 1985 Windy City International, 1983 Chicago International and 1982 Continental Chess Summer International. Other notable results include: 2013 United States Senior Open (Tie 1st-4th), 1988 National Open Co-Champion, two-time New England Open Champion, four-time Massachusetts Open Champion, multi-time State Open Champion (IL, NH, RI), 1980 United States Open Speed Champion, 1979 National High School Champion, and 1976 National Junior High School Champion.
