National Master Joaquin Carlson

Peak USCF: 2269 | 10+ Years Competitive Experience

As a National Master and active competitor, I am passionate about sharing the high-level strategies and insights that lead to real results. My coaching is backed by success in elite tournament play, including:

  • 1st Place: 2025 Boylston Chess Club Championship
  • Shared 1st Place: 2025 New Hampshire State Championship
  • Shared 2nd Place: 2025 Continental Open (alongside a Grandmaster)
  • Shared 2nd Place: 89th Massachusetts State Championship (alongside two Grandmasters)

With nearly four years of coaching experience, I specialize in building strong fundamentals, tactical sharpness, and strategic clarity. I believe in giving students the tools to succeed well beyond our sessions; in addition to our time together, I offer personalized opening repertoire analysis and tactical puzzles to work on outside of our lessons.

Beyond the board, I am developing a short Chessable course on the Four Knights Scotch, a line I have used to defeat multiple titled players. My mission is to help you break through plateaus and achieve chess mastery.

Whether you are just beginning your chess journey or already an advanced tournament player, I can help you take your game to the next level!
