Ballots

Paper ballots were mailed to voters on April 23 together with printed candidate statements and a self-addressed, stamped ballot return envelope. Votes could be mailed or handed in directly at the Massachusetts Open.

Online ballot invitations were emailed to voters on April 29, including a link to the online ballot form and a link to candidate statements posted on the masschess.org website. Online voting was enabled between April 29 and May 23 inclusive.

Online ballots were tallied by electionrunner.com and published online on May 27. Paper ballots were counted in public at the site of the Massachusetts Open at noon on May 26 and the combined totals were announced verbally and posted in the tournament venue.

Ballots also included a question approving the Bylaws Amendment of January 15.

Election expenses

Election expenses this cycle totaled $41.68, including a $29.00 fee to ElectionRunner.com for the online portion of the election.

Late Withdrawal

One candidate, Paul Arond, withdrew his nomination for Director after ballots were sent out. Since he received enough votes to be elected, the Elections Commission has reported that position as vacant, subject to action by the Board.
