This DVD is a great program for learning chess. New to this edition is material based on the principles of learning as detailed in Josh Waitzkin’s book The Art of Learning. In addition, there are a number of new mini-games, which were detailed in the reviews of the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP versions (see the April-June 2008 and July-September 2008 issues). It also contains all the tutorials previously featured in the Chessmaster series. Thus, there is material from GMs Christiansen, Evans, Nunn, and Seirawan, as well as from NM Pandolfini.
All told this is a tremendous resource. The one downside is that the online play option is often unavailable because no one is on the server to play against; this is quite stunning when you consider how many thousands of these must have been sold.
